Today we used Google Earth and a measuring wheel to measure our track. First, students made a guess on how many feet they thought were around the track. Second, we measured the track using Google Earth and the ruler tool. Then we headed outside to measure the track with the wheel. I have to say I was impressed! Google Earth measured it at 1,320 feet and we measured, with the wheel, at 1,322 feet. I'm going to allow the students to comment tomorrow (I approve all post first) their reflections. Overall it was neat lesson! Thanks to Kami's parents for the idea and the wheel!
What do you think financial literacy is? Update: I've moved class discussions to a new tab. All post are approved first.

I am beyond excited that our school purchased a subscription to IXL. I used the trail last year in my classroom and loved it.
Your child can download the App or go to www.ixl.com to get on at home. We practiced logging on yesterday at school. Most of their usernames are their first initial and last name (some have a 1 after that) and the password is sses3. I will send home a card with the information soon. I highly encourage you to utilize this resource at home. |
